Honor Societies and Honor Clubs

Orange Beach City Schools provides a K-12 results based experience that focuses on the whole student, one that incorporates challenging academics and skills acquisition, strong character development and solid citizenship which will build our next generation.

National Honor Society

To be eligible for induction, students must meet the following criteria:

Students must have 3.5 cumulative GPA
No major discipline infractions
Once inducted, students agree to:
- Enroll in at least 2 AP/Dual level courses per year
- Complete 20 service hours per year

Mrs. Freeman will advertise application instructions. Inductions are typically held in April.

National Junior Honor Society recognizes and develops students' scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. Applications for current 7th and 8th graders will be available to students beginning Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. These can be picked up from the bulletin board in the middle school hallway.

To be eligible for induction, students must meet the following critieria:

Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA in core classes
Applicants must have grades of B or higher in elective courses
Meet the expectations of the attendance policy
Have no discipline referrals.

Applications are due by April 5th, 2024.

Science National Honor Society

To be eligible for induction, students must meet the following criteria:

Junior or senior
Unweighted GPA 3.0+
A/B in all science courses
No suspensions
Have taken 1 honors science before 11^th grade
Be enrolled in an AP course for 11^th and 12^th grade
8 science related service hours per semester
Attend 2+ SNHS activities
Submit two teacher recommendations

Typically, applications are due near the end of March and inductions are held around Earth Day.

Mu Alpha Theta

To be eligible for induction, students must meet the following criteria:

Must have completed two years of college prep math courses
Must have an unweighted 3.5 GPA in all math courses
Must be enrolled in a college prep or college level math course.

Applications are distributed in early January, and are due at the end of the month. Students are notified of their acceptance by mid February

Inductions are typically held in mid-March, as close to Pi Day (3/14) as possible.

30+ Club

We are thrilled to honor students who have earned a 30 or above on the ACT (or the SAT equivalent)! If your child achieves this accomplishment, please send a copy of the score report to Mrs. Edmonds , our Assistant Principal, for recognition at school and inclusion in the club! Please note that Orange Beach High School does not automatically receive score reports.
