Students will be exposed to a wide variety of art forms and media throughout this school year. We will spend the beginning of the year with focusing on drawing techniques that will build the students ability. These lessons will include contour drawing, perspective, and grid-based drawing. The lessons will incorporate the various techniques including blending, shading, and rendering. We will then spend some time in different medias of art, using both traditional and non-traditional methods. These various media and methods will have cultural and/or historical references and will align with the Alabama Course of Study and Content Standards. Examples will be projects such as Japanese Block Printmaking and Claus Oldenburg Pop Art Sculptures. We will also spend some time working with our art digitally towards the end of the school year. Students will also be required to participate in weekly reflections that will be done through google classroom. These reflections will be posted at the end of each week covering content relevant to the instruction done during that particular week.
