Softball
Coach Shane Alexander graduated from Hartselle High School in 1986. Upon completion of his military service in the United States Army, he graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1997 and a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Jacksonville State University. Coach Alexander started his coaching career at Hartselle High School where he was part of State Championship teams as an assistant in 2000 (Baseball) and 2011 (Football). As the head coach in softball, he led them to a State Championship in 2003 and a Runner-Up finish in 2008. In 6 years as the head coach of softball, he won 240 games.
After 21 years at Hartselle, Coach Alexander moved to Orange Beach as part of the first school staff in 2019. He has led the softball program at Orange Beach since the beginning and helped them become the first school in AHSAA history to win a State Championship (2021) in their first year of varsity competition. The Makos have gone on to win State Championships in 2022 and 2023 and have compiled a 112-28 record while winning 3 consecutive state titles. Coach Alexander has been married to his wife, Shelly, for the past 27 years and they have 2 boys, Scout and Sebastian (Seb).
