Spanish Honor Society

The Spanish Honor Society, known as the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, is a prestigious organization that honors students for their excellence in the Spanish language. Our Orange Beach chapter, proudly named “Los Tiburones” (The Sharks), upholds this tradition of recognizing academic achievement and commitment to the Spanish language.

Each year, select students are invited to a formal induction ceremony, where they light a candle and pledge their dedication to the study of Spanish. Inductees receive an official certificate as a symbol of their accomplishment.

To qualify for membership in Los Tiburones, students must maintain an “A” average in Spanish levels 1, 2, and the first quarter of level 3. Additionally, members are required to complete 6 hours of community service each school year.

Graduating members are honored with red and gold cords—representing the colors of the Spanish flag—as a distinguished symbol of their hard work and dedication.

If you have any questions about the Spanish Honor Society, please email Mrs. Rhonda Prater, sponsor.
